For this blog post, I’ll be showcasing my animation storyboard and all the design detail I plan to involve.

The starting scene of my animation will be the planetary scene which will involve my main planet which will differentiate from the rest with the ring around it. I’m including other smaller planets that will orbit around this main planet. The colouring and style will be futuristic. For the background I plan for it to be black with white dots to represent vast space, this background can then easily transition into a disco background with little or no change at all.
This orbit movement will be slow as the camera in the animation pans to the planets. Gradually the spinning movement will speed up quicker and quicker and the camera begins to focus on the main planet. This main planet will be spinning faster as well. The other planets will be orbiting quicker around the main planet until they are out of the frame to create a nice flow.

Once the swift motion is at max speed, I will involve the max speed morphing method and quickly change the planet into the disco ball. The spinning has to be very fast for it to be a smooth transition. Which may be a challenge.
The morphing will be sudden with no extra animation to show the change other than the gradual spinning motion. The disco ball will pop from the planet spinning just as fast as the planet was. I want the ball to have reflections showcasing a nightclub image which I will obtain from a stock image site.
Once the transition is made, I plan to keep the background the same as it will be styled to fit in either environment (space or a disco). The camera will be still zoomed into the disco ball at this point so it’ll start to pan out, showing off all the space.
As an extra at the end, I will add some lights bouncing off the disco ball to make it obvious to the viewer what they are being shown. This will be a great way to end the animation with a grand finale.

This animation is music-themed due to the disco environment so the sound I add is important to portray this. To begin with, the music/sound will be subtle and soft in the planetary scene with some disco music escaping to foreshadow the next scene. I plan to add a transitional sound, believing a record scratch would be the most appropriate, however, I’m not 100% certain that would work and I may include a more subtle transitional sound of a pop. Finally, once the transition is complete and all the focus is on the disco, the music will change into a clear dance sound that I plan to fade out near the end of the animation.
