In this blog post, I’ll showcase my coffee-based models: a mug, a take-out cup, and a coffee bean bag. I used Blender for this. My venue idea combines a coffee house and nature. The design of these products will heavily involve flowers and plants. The name of this coffee house is Petaldrip.
I have little experience making models other than spheres in Blender, so I learned many new skills during this assignment.
Petaldrip Mug

For the mug, I planned to go for a handcrafted style. I considered making it a flower, but I liked how this model came out. I aimed for soft and wavy shapes to correspond to the brand. I modelled this mainly using shapes and tools in Blender, but I also used sculpting to add the wavy element to the top of the rim of the mug. This gives a subtle imagery of a flower and achieves that handcrafted look.

I took inspiration from the mugs photographed above, with their bumpiness and short size. I later used a similar style for my final mug design.
Petaldrip Takeaway Cup

Modelling the takeaway cup was more of a challenge than the mug. Making the cup was easy, but making the lid with all its details caused me to make mistakes that I had to fix afterwards. I wanted the cup to be simple so I could easily design the branding later in UV wrapping.
Petaldrip Coffee Beans

The coffee bean bag model was easy to achieve. I wanted to keep in theme with rounded edges, so I added a few modifiers in Blender to achieve this look. This bag model is a simpler redesign of the first bag I modelled. The first one had more details; however, later on, I realised it made it very difficult to UV unwrap and apply my branding design. So, I remade it much simpler but kept it with the same structure.
Petaldrip Coffee Bottle

For the design of the coffee bottle, I aimed to shape it to resemble a glass milk bottle. The material will be glass, and I plan for the label to be see-through and not fully wrapped around the bottle. The soft curves and edges correlate to the branding and shape theory.
